✦ Synopsis

Experiments were performed on female Wistar rats (age 70 days) to study the influence of the anaesthetics, the characteristics of the plantaris muscle, and the problem of the ueuromotor specificity of force and speed of muscle contractions.

The results indicate that: 1. The anaesthetics as such, over a period of 2 hours, have but little influence on blood pressure, pII and heart rate, thus the rat is kept essentially in a reasonable steady state condition during the experiment; 2. The plantaris muscle is a fast muscle; 3. Neuromotor specificity (CLARKE, 1964) most probably is not located in the periphery.
