✦ Synopsis

Laser-diode pumped continuous-wave (cw) laser performance of a new class Nd:Lu~x~Gd~1-x~VO~4~ crystals at 1.34 μm was demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge. A maximum output power of 2.25 W was obtained at the incident pump power of 11.96 W with x = 0.14, giving the corresponding optical conversion efficiency of 18.8%. Efficient emission cross-sections of the mixed crystals were calculated for different x. The influence of Lu composition x on the variations of laser performance and emission cross-section was also discussed.

In this paper, the crystal growth and characterization of Nd:Gd3AlxGa5-xO12 (x = 0.94) (Nd:GGAG) was reported. The X-ray powder diffraction studies confirm that the Nd:Gd 3 Al x Ga 5-x O 12 crystal is isostructural with Gd 3 Ga 5 O 12 (GGG) with unit cell parameter of 1.2319 nm. The absorption and e
