Here we show the results we obtained in the fabrication of planar waveguide lasers based on monoclinic double tungstates doped with Er 3+ and Tm 3+ . We have successfully introduced these ions into the lattice matched KY 0.59 Gd 0.19 Lu 0.22 (WO 4 ) 2 epitaxial layers grown on KY(WO 4 ) 2 substrates

The epitaxial composites are optically characterized and implemented in a cavity, longitudinally pumped (normal to the layer) by a Ti:sapphire laser. Tunable (1894-2039 nm) continuous-wave laser operation is achieved with maximum slope efficiency as high as 64% with respect to the absorbed pump power at 802 nm. T
