We report on the continuous wave (CW) and passive Q-switching performance of a high-power diode-pumped Nd:GGG laser. A CW output power of 7.20 W was obtained under an absorbed pump power of 14.97 W, which gives a slop efficiency of 52.7%. With a Cr^4+^ doped yttrium aluminum garnet crystal as the sa

✦ Synopsis
We demonstrated a diode end-pumped continuouswave (CW) and passively Q-switched (PQS) dual-wavelength laser at about 0.93 μm with Nd:(Lu x Gd 1-x ) 3 Ga 5 O 12 (Nd:LGGG) crystal for the first time. The maximum CW output power of 244 mW was obtained with the optical-optical conversion efficiency of 6.2% and the slope efficiency of 8.1%, respectively. The PQS performance was obtained with V 3+ :YAG crystal as the saturable absorber. The shortest pulse width was achieved to be 259 ns with the pulse repetition rate of 130 kHz. The laser spectrum was found to be dual-wavelength with respective wavelength of 933.0 and 936.8 nm for both CW and passive Q-switching regime.

Passive Q-switched and mode-locked operation of a 2.7-m fluorozirconate fiber laser is reported. Both mode-locking and Q-switching were attained by means of InAs epilayers used as saturable absorbers. Another technique used was the so-called flying-mirror mode-locking, whereby an external resonator
