✦ Synopsis
Estimation of the stress-strain relationship for concrete in uniaxial tension is done by means of a semiempirical damage model.
The damage is a measure of the relative portion of pores and cracks in the material.
The model is related to stress-strain curves published by Evans and Marathe (3).

for betong utsatt for enaksial strekkbelastning er fremstilt ved hjelp aven semiempirisk skade-modell.
Skaden er et m~l for den relative andel porer og sprekker i materialet.
Modellen er relatert til eksperimentelle spenning-t~yningskurver publisert av Evans og Marathe (3).

Mechanisms of tensile fracture of concrete are described. A model is developed for an idealized material. The amount of simultaneous cracking and the path of each crack depend on the rate of stressing. The fracture energy and the tensile strength have been determined as functions of the rate of load
