✦ Synopsis

This exceUent contribution to the natural history of whiplash injuries combines the clinical strengths of Bristol with the behavioural medicine department of Dr Main. Dr Main is well known for his contribution to low back pain disability and this paper provides similar useful information to all on this common problem.

Symptoms and psychological test scores were recorded in 50 consecutive patients presenting to an A&E department following a rear-end collision. Assessments were repeated at 3 months and 2 years.
