✦ Synopsis

n my two previous articles about contingency planning,l,' we have looked at background information. We can think of this as the foundation of the plan. We now start building the structure. Just like building a house or another structure, you need to make sure that all of the walls are connected to each other and to the foundation. If this does not happen, the building may collapse. A contingency plan is Iike this. The planning section must be fitted and connected together. If not, during a real emergency, it may not hold together. Personally, 1 find this the most difficult section of any plan to write. So let's get started.

Before the actual writing starts, look at your personnel structure-from upper management to the janitor. Who in that group should be in charge? Make a list. In a time of crisis, can you rely on each of them to assume their assigned responsibility? Do you have enough people listed?

This group is going to manage the crisis. They are going to need to assemble quickly in the event of an emergency.
