โœฆ Synopsis


Advances in colloidal syntheses, enabling the preparation of semiconductors and magnetic alloy nanocrystals with narrow size distributions and specific surface functionalities, are described. Such nanocrystals can be used for fabrication of two-and three-dimensional arrays and colloidal supercrystals (see Figure ) by simple chemical techniques (see also inside front cover). Also, a theoretical description of the control over nanocrystal monodispersity is presented.

Single-crystalline zinc oxide nanowires can be synthesized in a rational manner using the simple vapor transport and condensation process presented here. The orientation, position, diameter, and morphology of the nanowires can be controlled and lasing action is observed in nanowire arrays without th
