✦ Synopsis

Abstraet--A mathematical model of isostatic pressing in a cylindrical container is elaborated. The influence of the container geometry, the container and the powder constitutive properties on shrinkage anisotropy (change of the powder specimen's aspect ratio) is analyzed. The idea of using containers with different thicknesses of the lateral and end face walls for controlling the shrinkage anisotropy is suggested. Model experiments on HIPing of copper powder in a copper container are carried out. The design principle of proportionality of the ratio of container wall thicknesses and the ratio of container internal dimensions is analytically derived and experimentally tested.
