✦ Synopsis

In this paper we deÿne the notion of pseudo-parallel curves, extending, in the plane, that of o set curves. Then we consider the problem of ÿtting a set of scattered points with a curve pseudo-parallel to a given reference curve. We propose a method of solution based on a modiÿed version of the classical smoothing D m -splines over a bounded domain. The convergence of the method is established and some numerical examples are given.

In this paper a class of C 2 ∩ F C 3 spline curves possessing tension properties is described. These curves can be constructed using a simple modification of the well-known geometric construction of C 4 quintic splines; therefore their shape can be easily controlled using the control net. We show that the hyperelliptic curves y 2 =x 5 +x 3 +x 2 &x&1 and y 2 =x 5 & x 3 +x 2 &x&1 over the field with three elements are not geometrically isomorphic, and yet they have isomorphic Jacobian varieties. Furthermore, their Jacobians are absolutely simple. We present a method for constructing fu

## Abstract In a recent article (Burrell, 2006), the author pointed out that the version of Lorenz concentration theory presented by Egghe (2005a, 2005b) does not conform to the classical statistical/econometric approach. Rousseau (2007) asserts confusion on our part and a failure to grasp Egghe's
