✦ Synopsis
The search to improve protective techniques against natural phenomena such as snow avalanches requires thorough analysis of the behaviour of a snow cover in interaction with a structure. This paper deals with a multiscale approach allowing the overall behaviour of the snowpack to be inferred from the local properties. The constitutive equations are obtained from a statistical description of the mantel, regarded at the micro level as a cohesive granular assembly. Further general results are derived on the changes in fabrics as an application, the case of a snow pack in interaction with a flexible structure is discussed.

## Abstract The USGS precipitation‐runoff modelling system (PRMS) hydrologic model was used to evaluate experimental, gridded, 1 km^2^ snow‐covered area (SCA) and snow water equivalent (SWE) products for two headwater basins within the Rio Grande (i.e. upper Rio Grande River basin) and Salt River (
## Abstract In this paper an analytic model allowing simulating the electrical characteristics and the leakage current of a snow‐covered insulator is proposed. For that purpose, leakage current through a snow‐covered insulator was monitored under high alternative voltage at a temperature of −12°C.
