Finite-difference-time-domain method, perfect!\ matched layer. Mawell 's equations. los? dispersii'e media, dipole antennas ABSTRACT Elcctnc. arid rnagnerrc rpilr fomis in PML arc used in a modified ser of Maxwell's eqitations in streirked coordinates. Wit17 stretrhed coefficients. the general propagation con ytants, impedance, reflection, and transmission coefficienrs arc. g i w i and are called PMLS characrerisrics. The equic, alent constituric e parameters in PMLS are proiided. Based on PMLS, with specified crretrhed coefficients. the ideal absorption condition (IAC) is propoted. It can he used in isotropic loss. dispersic'e media for FDTD calcularion. It is prowd that PML is a special case of the ideal absorption condition (IACJ. The constituticv eqitiralent principle is proposed for a general case. Nitmerical examples are also proi.ided.
