## Abstract Two new benzophenanthridine alkaloids, named 8‐methoxysanguinarine (**1**) and 8‐methoxyisodecarine (**2**), were isolated from the EtOH extract of the rhizoma of __Zanthoxylum nitidum.__ Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.
