โฆ Synopsis
ARC0 BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF CHEMICAL PIPELINE ARC0 Pipe Line, a subsidiary of ARCO, has started the construction of two pipeline systems to carry ammonia and hydrogen chloride, under an agreement with Bayer Corporation. ARC0 Pipe Line will build and operate a 4-inch anhydrous ammonia pipeline, from an ammonia terminal on the Houston Ship Channel, Texas, to Bayer's plant in Baytown, Texas. It is also developing an 1%inch anhydrous hydrogen chloride pipeline from the Bayer Baytown plant, to The Geon Company's LaPorte, Texas facility. Construction of the pipelines began in February 1998, and start-up of operations is planned for the third quarter of this year. The pipelines are part of Bayer's US$ZSO million expansion of its diphenylmethane diisocyanate and toluene diisocyanate production facilities, at its Baytown site.
