✦ Synopsis

This paper de&s with the dete~ination of approximative COD fields of one-dimensional cracks under mode I and mode II loadings. It is shown how the general set-up for the COD tieId of edge cracks must read. An additional crack mouth condition for mode II loading, namely a3u/c?x3 = 0 at x = 0, is proved and a condition of equilibrium is derived.
