This novel approach combines screening for aneuploidy by CGH with precise mapping and sampling of the term placenta, separation of the placental cell lineages, and quantification of mosaicism by FISH. This methodology may prove to be the key to effectively screening term placentas and establishing the true incidence and clinical implications of CPM.
