126,27-'3C,]-24-Methyl-A'4-cholesterol (1) and [26,27-"C\*]-24-ethyl-A~~-cholesterol (2) have been chemically synthesized to examine their ability as precursors of (24R)-and (24S)-24. methylcholesterols and (24R )-24.ethylcholesterol, respectively. Feeding of these tetra-substituted olefins to the
