✦ Synopsis
Two methods of constructing confidence intervals for variance components in gauge capability studies are presented in this article. Comparisons are made between the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method and the modified large sample (MLS) method for constructing confidence intervals for components of repeatability, reproducibility, and total (gauge) variability. The examples considered involve a factorial design and a nonstandard nested design.
