โฆ Synopsis
Park City, Utah, a ski resort with truly excellent facilities, was the location for the first Workshop in SFC organized by Milton Lee and Karin Markides. The intensity of the conference allowed little recreation, however, as the 170 participants heard 39 papers and took part in ten hours of structural discussion.
The increasing maturity of SFC, its main areas of application and future developments formed the theme of the Workshop. It began with the presentation of a commemorative plaque to Professor Ernst G. Kfesper in recognition of his achievement in the first separation by S k , as long ago as 1962. Ten main current SFC topicareaswere then explored in lectureanddiscussionsessions: mobile phases, injection techniques, programming methods, coupling of supercritical extraction with chromatography, flow restriction, detection, packed and capillary columns selectivity, SFC-mass spectrometry, and applications.
