From Allentown and Philadelphia to Erie and Pittsburgh, from academic and government research to equipment vendors and industrial applications, perhaps it is fitting that the 11 th International Symposium and Exhibit on Supercritical Fluid Chromatography, Extraction, and Processing was held in Pittsburgh, PA. Pennsylvania and the surrounding region host perhaps the highest concentration of supercritical fluid research and development activities in the U.S. Approximately 200 researchers converged on Pittsburgh for this meeting on August 1-4, 2004. Among the meeting participants, a strong international presence (about 40% of attendees) was observed, the majority being from Europe (40% of international attendees) and Asia (35%).
