โฆ Synopsis
Substltuents contammg a pyrrole head-group have been attached to one or more of the mtrogen atoms of the macrocychc hgand 1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradecane (cyclam) Although conducting polymer films may be grown from the precursor compounds contammg the N-pyrrole substltuents, attempts to grow conductmg polymer films from the moddied cyclam hgands, of potential use m electrocatalysls, were unsuccessful In separate expenments it was found that cyclam interferes with the growth of conducting polymer films from N-methyl pyrrole The complexes of the pyrrole-containing cyclam hgands with N?+, Cu*+ and Zn*+ were also investigated, m the expectation that the metal ions would prevent interference to film growth by the macrocycle However, this was found not to be the case, and the possible reasons for this are discussed
