Some years ago I-3 we described a new reaction, the condensation of the vinylcyclenole ( 1) and ( 2) with the cyclic 1,3-diketones (3) and ( 4) widely used by us and by others in the total synthesis of estrone, D-homo-estrone and their analogs2-g . However the scope and limits of application of the
