โœฆ Synopsis

What we would like for you to do is use these articles as a backdrop to discuss how the field may better realize its mission of understanding and serving people in community by considering the roles that transcendence ~what we are loosely calling religion and spirituality! plays in people lives. We have received numerous positive comments about speaking to the issue of, religion and spirituality even the fact that JCP is committing a special issue to it suggest that there is growing interest in the area. I do not expect you to review all the articles and comment on them; instead I would love to have you write your present thoughts about it. Spirituality may be just one more concept in a long line of community thought, like sense of community, and empowerment. Maybe we should entertain making peace with religious communities and in a collaborative way develop theories, research, and eventually intervention strategies in which spirituality is a driving force of our work. Regardless we want you to feel free to expand on the groundwork that you have already laid.
