The fluorcsana yields and lifetimes of chlorphyll-a in lipid liposomcs and vcsicics have been measured in an attempt to understand the light harvesting mechanism of photosynthesis. Concentration quench@ of the fluorcsccna: WIS obscrvcd in all systems. Ihe extent depending on the lipid used. The system having the highest halfquenching aonocntration (7.0 X lo-' mohl) was a 3: 1 mole to molt mixture of monogaiactosyl diglyczridc and digahctosyl diglyccridc.
