✦ Synopsis
Steady slate phosphorescence spectra at 4.2 K were obtained for different concentrations of 4methylbenzophenone (MBP) doped into deoxycholic acid (DCA) crystals. The spectra indicate that at concentrations of 14% and below, the sample consists ofcholeic acid crystals partially filled with MBP and as the concentration increases to 1696, enough guest sites are filled with MBP to cause the local structure to change to that of the stoichiometric crystal. The stoichiometric ratio of DCA to MBP was determined to be 2 : 1. Spectral shifts characteristic of energy transfer processes are not observed over the concentration range of 4% to 33% MBP.
