Optical methods have been developed for measuring particle size and concentration ln an aerosol. In a small sample of monodiaperse aerosol, the concentration of particles has beenm easured as a .function of vertical position and time, and the results have been used to verify the differential equation deilnlng the concentration distribution ln a system of particles subjected to the combined effects of Brownlan Motion and gravitation. Zusammeufassung-Zur Messung der Teilchengr6sse und der Konzentration in einem Aerosol wurden optlsche Methoden entwlckelt. In einer kleinen Probe eines monodispersen Aerosols wurde die Koxwentration der Teilchen als Pm&ion der senkrechten H6he und der Zeit gemessen. Mit den Messergebnlssen wurde die Diiferentialglelchung fiir die Konzentrationsverteil~ in e&em System von Teilchen bestlttigt, wle sie sich aus dem Zusammenwirken der Browns&en Bewegung und der Gravltation ergibt.
