โฆ Synopsis
Electrocardiology deals with the electric fields created by the heart at different points of the body. The origin of these fields are the electric charges of the heart cells. However, electrocardiology deals mainly with the macroscopic aspects of the phenomena. In this paper, we calculate quantitatively with the aid of a computer model the formation of the P and Pt waves of the ECG, taking into account the microscopic characteristics of the cells. This quantitative calculation shows that a part of the mechanism is not yet discovered. We give an ad hoc description of this undiscovered part, and outline the ways to check it experimentally.
