β¦ Synopsis
This paper offers two programs which resolve an experimental envelope curve into its component overlapping peaks. One program fits symmetrical gaussian peaks and the other fits skewed or tailing peaks having the functional form of the S u frequency distribution. Both require an initial set of crude estimates of the functional parameters and then iteratively seek a least-squares fit of the calculated and experimental envelopes. The programs must be operated from teletypewriter consoles and are well suited to use on time sharing computer facilities. This method finds application to such biochemical techniques as chromatography, electrophoresis and gel filtration.
