Hiadt&d rotation of polar molecules in capture collisions with ions has been studied by numerical trajectory catculations. Compute+-made movies furnish a convenient visual means for observing the relative motion of the ion-molecule pair, as we11 as hindering of the di,noie by the incident ion. The degree of hindering is best described by a parameter which depends on the &pole moment, rotational energy and impact parameter.
