✦ Synopsis
From the measurements of room-temperature time-resolved transient absorption spectra of phenyldibenzophosphole (PDP) in N,Ndimethylformamide (DMF) the formation of two types of triplet excimers, along with radical ions and monomeric triplet states, was inferred. It is suggested that formation of the high-energy excimer occurs both by radical ion-pair recombination and by monomeric triplets reacting with ground state molecules whereas only the former mechanism is operative in the production of the low energy excimer. Specific rate constants for the relevant processes have been determined.
