โฆ Synopsis
A low-cost microcomputer based integrated CAD/CAM system (MICCAD) is described. It allows the design and direct manufacture of mechanical and engineering parts which are produced by turning or milling. The system is capable of interactive display, creation, drafting and production of NC part programs for a family of multimicrocomputer distributed CNC machine tools being developed at Imperial College. A hierarchical system approach has been adopted both within the database structure and the CAM control system so as to maintain modularity, and expandability. The CAM subsystem can be used either interactively from the workstation or in standalone mode.
