✦ Synopsis
Shapes, concisely described in terms of volume elements, are readily input to a computer by engineering designers. Line drawings and shape information for manafacture can be produced automatically from the description stored in the computer.
Snmmary--The paper describes a program which a designer can use to build up the shape of a 2½D or 3D mechanical component by adding or subracting volumes. The program will plot or display line drawings of the component. It also generates a stored description of the eomponent's shape, from which can be derived geometric information for manufacture of the component by numerically-controlled machine tools.
