✦ Synopsis
When converting a time-domain model of a non-linear system into the frequency domain to get non-linear transfer functions, any constant or dc term in the time-domain model can have a significant effect on the time-to-frequency domain mapping. The constant term can not therefore simply be discarded as in the linear case. This paper examines this effect and a new mapping is derived to obtain the non-linear transfer functions from a general class of non-linear rational models in which a constant term is included. The results are illustrated using several examples.
