โฆ Synopsis
The paper discusses the development of extended octree-based algorithms for creating an object model of a machined part from the known geometry of cutting tools, cutter motion statements as provided in the NC machining code and the initial stock of the part. A "machined" object is then reconstructed in polyhedral boundary representation from the above object model in order to compare it with the designed object to verify the NC machining program. The work concentrates on the development and implementation of the model conversion and reconstruction algorithms between polyhedral boundary models and extended octree models. It also discusses the extended octree modeling technology and model updating for machining simulation. A prototype has been developed on a personal computer platform with Microsoft Visual Cฯฉฯฉ.

The effects of saturation in an induction motor's performance during a direct on-line start are studied using three different techniques. In the first method, the motor is modeled using the well-known Electromagnet Transients Program (EMTP) with saturation included in the magnetizing branch only. Se
