โฆ Synopsis
Concrete cylinders reinforced with glass fabrics of various constructions were fabricated. Compressive behaviours and failure modes of cylinders with and without fabric wrapping were compared. The tensile strength of the filament used in the fabric, the fabric thickness and the fabric weight played an important role as far as the anti-compression behaviour and failure mode of the reinforced cylinders are concerned. Tensile strength of the fabric is not considered to be a main factor for the reinforcement effect. Enhanced reinforcement would make the broken section of the wrapped fabric shift towards the middle section of the concrete cylinder.
