โœฆ Synopsis

By using the theory of small deformations superposed on large compressibility effects for nearly incompressible materials can be considered. A procedure suggested by Truesdell is outlirted and used for the problems of straightening, stretching and shearing of an annular wedge and the telescopic shear of a cylirtdrieal tube.

We propose and analyze a discontinuous finite element method for nearly incompressible linear elasticity on triangular meshes. We show optimal error estimates that are uniform with respect to Poisson's ratio. The method is thus locking free. We also introduce an equivalent mixed formulation, allowin
