โœฆ Synopsis

One of the traditional models for growth data is the logistic distribution. In this note, a collection of more flexible models referred to as compound growth distributions is derived. The corresponding estimation procedures are established by the method of moments. The superior performance and the sensitivity of these models are illustrated over the traditional logistic model.

The use of Panjer's algorithm has meanwhile become a widespread standard technique for actuaries (Kuon et al., 1955). Panjer's recursion formula is used for the evaluation of compound distributions and can be applied to life and general insurance problems. The discrete version of Panjer's recursion

We present two methods of constructing multivariate compound distributions and investigate the corresponding infinitely divisible and compound Poisson distributions. We then show that the multivariate compound Poisson distributions can be derived as the limiting distributions of the sums of independ
