The essential oil of fresh ¯owers of Plumeria obtusa L. collected in Brunei Darussalam was isolated by hydrodistillation and examined by GC±MS. Forty-seven components were identi®ed, representing 97% of the oil, with benzyl salicylate (39%), benzyl benzoate (11%), (2E, 6E)-farnesol (8%) and (E)-nero

✦ Synopsis
The essential oil of Acanthopanax trifoliatus (L.) Merr. from Vietnam, was investigated using combination of capillary GC, GC±MS and carbon-13 NMR spectroscopy after fractionation by column chromatography. More than 60 compounds, representing 97.4% of the total amount were identi®ed. The main components were a-pinene (23.9%), sabinene (14.9%), terpinen-4-ol (9.0%), b-pinene (7.7%) and p-cymene (5.8%). Carissone, an eudesmane derivative, was identi®ed as a minor component by carbon-13 NMR. Copyright

The composition of the essential oils isolated from the aerial parts of Teucrium heterophyllum L'HCr. collected during the flowering period and the vegetative phase of the plant, was analysed by GC and GC-MS. Both oils, which were obtained in a yield lower than 0.05% (vlw), were dominated by sesquit
The constituents of the essential oil of Stachys glutinosa L. were investigated for the ®rst time. In a ®rst part, we studied a collective oil following a methodology which combined chromatographic techniques (CC, GC) with spectroscopic techniques (MS, 13 C-NMR). Sixty-four constituents (91% of the
The essential oil of aerial parts of Porophyllum ruderale (Jacq.) Cass. was analysed by HRGC, HRGC±MS (quadrupole) and 26 components (93% of the total composition) were identi®ed. The enantiomeric distribution of b-pinene, sabinene, 4-terpineol and a-terpineol was studied by multidimensional HRGC±HR
The essential oil of Satureja brownei (SW.) Briq., was studied by GC and GC±MS. A yield of 0.12% of oil (v/w) was obtained. The main constituents found were pulegone (64.3%), menthone (20.2%), isomenthone (3.4%) and isopulegone (2.4%).
