Abstract
The red variety of Hibiscus Sabdariffa, also known as Lal Ambada iocaly, is extensively cultivated in India as a vegetable. The seeds contain 17.5% of semi drying oil. The characteristics of the oil are: I. V. 115.2, Sap. val. 194.5, refractive index 1.457. The percent component fatty acids were determined as: stearic 23.1, oleic 29.2, linoleic 44.4 and epoxyoleic 3.3.
