โฆ Synopsis
The problem of characterizing the kind of correlations leading to an extensive behaviour of the S q (power-law) entropic measure has recently been considered by Tsallis, Gell-Mann and Sato (TGS) [Complexity and Non-Extensivity: New Trends in Statistical Mechanics, Yukawa Institute, Kyoto, 14-18 March 2005]. We propose a family of models for the probability occupancy of phase space exhibiting an extensive behaviour of S q and allowing for an explicit analysis of the N ! 1 (thermodynamic) limit.

Some models for binary fragmentation are introduced in which a time dependent transition size produces two regions of fragment sizes above and below the transition size. In the first model we assume a fixed rate of fragmentation for the largest fragment and two different rates of fragmentation in th
A criterion has been developed for the global asymptotic stability of a system containing a power-law non-linearity. The criterion re&tces to the Nyquist criterion in the special case of a linear system.
