✦ Synopsis

To study the components involved in nuclear pre-mRNA splicing we have fractionated HeLa cell nuclear extracts by column chromatography. To this end we have partially purified five protein factors which are necessary to splice transcripts derived from the Adenovirus 2 major late transcription unit utilizing complementation assays. We have also obtained two fractions that are highly enriched in U 1 and U5, and in U2, U4, and U6 snRNPs [1].
