✦ Synopsis
A free-interface component mode synthesis, which uses truncated component real modes, complemented with residual flexibility, inertia-relief modes and residual dissipative effects, has been developed and allows assembly of a damped rotor system with flexible interfaces, using any number of components. In this method, all flexible-interface co-ordinates are eliminated from the final set of system equations by utilizing the interface-force compatibilities.
Numerical examples demonstrate the superior accuracy of the new method compared with previously reported results obtained by using both fixed-interface and free-interface component mode synthesis.
