The stiffness matrix approach has been used to solve frames with or without shear walls. In case of shear walls it is assumed that between the centre line and edge of the shear wall the beam is infinitely rigid. An experimental investigation has been conducted to test the validity of the assumption.

In this paper, the dynamic behaviour of coupled shear wall-frame systems is analyzed. A continuum approach for coupled shear walls with any number of opening rows is used, accounting for shear strain effects in both solid walls and lintel beams. A finite element formulation based on hierarchical sha
