Abstract
It is necessary that a database systematically store and manage various kinds of images and quickly synthesize a new image using the stored images. This paper describes a new method to manage material image data which are suitable for image synthesis and the synthesized images. The method uses โcomponent images for synthesis,โ each of which is based on its meaning such as โflowerโ or โperson.โ These are stored and managed to synthesize an image. Unlike conventional methods, this method allows a stored synthesized image to be altered easily. The usefulness of the method was confirmed by an experimental system. The system can store standard TV images and highโresolution images (for HighโVision images and print images) which can be used for the synthesis of an image.
