Several models have been proposed for the analysis of cohort mortality in the presence of competing risks (a reoent account is given by ELANDT-JOHNSON and JOHNSON, 1980, Chapter 12). This paper deacribes 8 maximum likelihood approach t o the analysis of followup data in life table format for the caae of two competing risks -a specific caum and ita competing complement.
