✦ Synopsis
The various lamp combinations used in this study were chosen to give light spectra which were well balanced in the 400--700 nm region in comparison with standard daylight. Four combinations of lamp were used. They included metal-halide (Sylvania Metalarc, Philips HPI), phosphor-coated mercury-vapour (Philips HPLR), and tungsteniodide types.
Each lamp combination was studied at two irradiance levels (140 and 60 W m -2 PAR) and at two temperature regimes (27.
