✦ Synopsis
Comparison plots are an effective method for the determination of some structural properties of adsorbents, supports and catalysts. With respect to their very different and often complicated structures, the choice of the reference adsorbent (isotherm) is of fundamental importance. If a deeper insight into the materials under study is aimed at, the analysis of adsorption data by this method should be supplemented by additional experimental data or model calculations. All examples presented pertain to modern materials with interesting potential applications. They represent typical examples for microporous/mesoporous or purely mesoporous solids.
