โœฆ Synopsis


This paper presents the design and performance of three single basis solar stills, namely the single slope fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) still, the double slope FRP still and the double slope concrete still . The bacteriological test, test for laboratory use, and tests for physical and chemical properties were also carried out on various distilled water samples . On the basis of the above, and long term performance of these stills under Delhi conditions, the following conclusions were drawn : in winter, the single slope FRP still gives better yield than the double slope stills ; in summer, the double slope stills give better yield than the single slope still ; the sample of distilled water from the single slope FRP still passes the bacteriological test .
