✦ Synopsis

A comparison IS made of the recovenes obtained for the sohd-phase extrachon (SPE) of an aqueous 1 pg ml-' solution of papaverme on nme different batches of cyanopropyl-bonded &a (CN) phases from three dtierent supphers The elutlon profile with up to 3 ml of methanol or methanol contammg 0 1% propylamme was set up, whereby mtra-and mter-day vanatlons were taken mto account For each volume level and both eluents, slgnticant differences could be demonstrated between the mean recoveries obtamed on different batches of CN sorbents If the volume of methanol used for the elution IS Increased, or d the eluotroplc strength IS Increased by ad&Ion of propykunme, then the differences m mean recoveries are smaller The mne sorbents could be dlvlded mto three groups accordmg to the relatnre nnportance of the apolar dlsperslon forces and the lomc mteractlons for the adsorption of papaverme IO addltlon to between-batch and between-manufaoturer vanatlons, the SPE method wth 1 ml of 0 1% propylamme 111 methanol as eluent yielded chfferences m remely of f 10% from day to day
