โœฆ Synopsis

Mn/Zn fen'ite powders of various composition prepared by a wet chemical method have been studied with the aid of magnetic measurements and MiSssbauer spectroscopy and their properties compared with those of the same materials after annealing at 1350ยฐC.

Magnetic permeability measurements on sintered samples have been also carried out to investigate the effect of the lower sintering temperature, typical of the highly reactive wet prepared powders.

From the results of these measurements it became apparent that wet ferrites present anomalous magnetic properties which depend, at low zinc concentrations, on the cation distribution in the lattice between tetrahedral and octahedral sites, while high temperature annealing causes a redistribution of the cations and brings their properties very close to those of ceramic samples.
